Greg Abbott Has Sent 40k Illegals to New York City As self-described "sanctuary" cities for illegal aliens, New York City and Chicago have bristled at being forced to pay for the illegal aliens shipped to them from Texas by Gov. Greg Abbott. Luca Cacciatore has the story [[link removed]].

Since April 2022, Texas officials have sent 40,300 to New York City. NYC Mayor Eric Adams was to travel to Brownsville and El Paso this week but has now canceled those plans due to "security concerns."

“What is going on in New York is calm and organized compared to the real chaos of what we see on the border—not every day—but every hour of every day,” said Abbott [[link removed]] at an event in NYC last year.

Meanwhile, Texas officials have transported more than 12,500 illegal aliens to Washington, D.C.; 33,000 to Chicago; 3,400 to Philadelphia; 17,100 to Denver; and 1,500 to Los Angeles. Phelan: ‘Not Appropriate’ for Candidates to Announce For Speaker Now With Speaker Dade Phelan facing an uphill battle in his own re-election campaign at home, he told a cable news channel it is "not appropriate" for candidates to announce their intention to run for speaker before the runoff. Brandon Waltens reports [[link removed]] on the reaction from grassroots activists and legislators.

Phelan was responding to the announcement made by State Rep. Tom Oliverson (R-Cypress) that he would be running for the speakership.

“It was a very selfish comment for [Phelan] to make. ‘I’m the speaker so no one can run against me until after the runoffs.’ That’s not true,” State Rep. Tony Tinderholt (R–Arlington) told Texas Scorecard.

“His own lieutenants have moved on,” said State Rep. Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands).

As the ongoing border crisis worsens, some Republican candidates for the Texas Legislature want the state to take control of the situation from the Biden administration.

Amelia McKenzie received answers [[link removed]] from the candidates in the runoffs for Senate District 30, and House Districts 1, 12, 21, 29, 30, 33, 44, 58, 61, 64, 91, and 97. "Draggieland" Returns to College Station Despite the federal courts siding with a campus within the Texas A&M system against drag shows, the flagship campus in College Station will be hosting a risque program later this week. The event at Texas A&M is called "Draggieland" and is hosted by the Queer Empowerment Council at the university's Rudder Theater Complex.

TAMU’s decision to host a drag show on campus creates an interesting contrast to West Texas A&M, which is in the same system but refused to allow a drag show on its campus in Canyon. A federal court upheld WTAMU's decision.

TAMU President Mark Welsh has not responded to requests for comment on the differences in policies within the university system. Parent Sues Prosper ISD for Alleged Assault of 5-year-old Student A parent is suing Prosper Independent School District for negligence after an elementary school teacher physically assaulted her 5-year-old child—behavior the lawsuit alleges “appears to be part of a larger pattern.” Erin Anderson has the details [[link removed]].

The suit alleges that during the past two school years, other children attending Rucker Elementary have been abused and/or injured due to the neglectful supervision of school staff.

The federal courts have blocked Texas from enforcing Senate Bill 4, which would make it a state crime to be in Texas illegally.
