Hi John.
I know Kansans are frustrated by partisan gridlock. The last thing anyone needs right now is more extremism in either party.
So today, I'd like to share another update on how I’m working with both parties to make a difference. I know good ideas can come from Republicans and Democrats. That’s why more than seven out of every ten bills that I’m supporting are bipartisan.
Here are just a few examples on how I’m working with both parties:
Bipartisan Border Security Package Becomes Law
I understand many Kansans have concerns about our southern border. Instead of using this as an issue to score political points, both parties should work to fix this issue once and for all.
That's why, late last week, I was glad to vote for a bipartisan bill to hire thousands of new border patrol agents. It passed the House with overwhelming support and is now law.
What do you want Republicans and Democrats to work on together? Please visit davids.house.gov/bipartisan to take the survey.
I was glad to recently lead a congressional visit to the Long Beach Container Terminal, one of the busiest ports in the nation. We met with Customs and Border Patrol agents to discuss how to prevent harmful substances like fentanyl from entering our country illegally.
I was glad to work alongside both Republicans and Democrats to pass this critical bill. It'll keep our government open, and among other things, has strong border security investments.
That includes support for another 2,000 border patrol agents. It also has additional support to help law enforcement bring order to the border. That includes new technology to stop the illegal smuggling of fentanyl. I've heard firsthand from families, law enforcement, and public health professionals on how fentanyl is hurting Kansans. There's a lot more work to do, but this is an important step in the right direction.
I'm going to keep pushing for a comprehensive and bipartisan solution to address our immigration challenges. That must include border security and a roadmap to citizenship, especially for people who have served in our military and dreamers. We need a smart, humane, and fair immigration system that remains true to our values.
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Working for Kansas
I'm also pleased to share some more good news! New resources will help local Kansas communities replace aging traffic signals and street lights.
The new equipment will be more energy efficient. This will save our local communities both energy and maintenance costs.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that I helped pass made this new investment possible. Please click here to learn more about it.
As a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I was glad to work with Republicans and Democrats to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. I also held meetings with White House officials to ensure Kansas was always part of the conversation.
The Chamber of Commerce says the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is fiscally responsible. And now, we're seeing the results.
Our local airports are being upgraded. Lead pipes are being replaced in Olathe. And U.S. 69 is being modernized.
Bipartisan Tax Cuts Pass House
Recently, I was also glad to help pass a bipartisan tax relief bill. This bill is about helping hardworking Kansans and small business owners.
It includes provisions to strengthen the Child Tax Credit, boost small business research and development, and help to make housing more affordable.

I was glad to vote to deliver a middle-class tax cut to hardworking families and small businesses who have struggled with higher prices in recent years.
This is exactly how Congress should operate. Both parties coming together to find solutions for hardworking people.
I will continue to champion this bill so it passes the Senate and becomes law. In the meantime, please know that my team and I are here to help folks however we can.

My job is to serve every person and corner of our community, regardless of party. Whether we agree on every issue or not is beside the point. Everyone deserves a government that works for them – not just big corporations, special interests, or the extremes of either party.
