Dear John,

Did you know the United States gives almost 95 billion dollars in humanitarian assistance to impoverished nations each year? Which is nearly a billion dollars MORE than all other nations combined!

In addition to these facts, the Helms Amendment, signed into law in 1973, "prohibits the use of foreign assistance to pay for the performance of abortion as a method of family planning or to motivate or coerce any person to practice abortion."

For almost 50 years, the Helms Amendment has protected humanitarian operators and taxpayers, who morally object to abortion on religious or conscientious grounds, from participating in crimes against the unborn.

However, powerful abortion lobbyists are pushing to end this provision, fully aware of the high stakes and huge profit they will reap if it is repealed. The plans to repeal or reinterpret the Helms Amendment will simultaneously enrich the international abortion industry while preventing people of faith and others with moral objections to performing abortions from delivering aid to the poor.

If the amendment is repealed, untold millions (if not billions) of dollars will be channeled to the abortion industry disguised as humanitarian aid to impoverished nations.

We need to act urgently. The abortion lobby is pushing hard for the end of this provision, as they'd benefit from the funds, doubling down on their unfathomable genocide of preborn babies globally.

SIGN our petition NOW and ask Secretary of State Antony Blinken to protect innocent lives by NOT repealing the Helms Amendment!

Repealing or reinterpreting the Helms Amendment would be inconsistent with U.S. government actions over the last 50 years under both Republican and Democratic administrations. It has been understood to prohibit U.S. foreign assistance from being used to perform abortion under any circumstance.

Raise your voice and sign our urgent petition calling on Secretary Blinken to:

  1. Reject any attempt to repeal or reinterpret the Helms Amendment
  2. Uphold America’s legacy as a champion of humanitarian aid without mandating abortion funding
  3. Protect millions of innocent lives globally by keeping this law firmly intact.

Suppose the Biden administration unilaterally reinterprets the Helms Amendment in a manner inconsistent with its application for 50 years. In that case, it will violate the law against the American people and the nations we strive to assist. The U.S. has never recognized abortion as consistent with humanitarian law.

Sign the petition TODAY and ask Secretary of State Antony Blinken to keep the Helms Amendment in place to protect innocent lives globally!

By reinterpreting or repealing the Helms Amendment, we risk creating perverse incentives for humanitarian aid organizations to promote abortion as the default response to war, disease and hunger.  It would also lend legitimacy to global abortion groups like the International Planned Parenthood Federation, which has already moved into the humanitarian space to gain access to funding.

The Helms Amendment is a highly popular piece of federal law. According to a Marist Poll published on January 27, 2021, 77% of Americans either "oppose" or "strongly oppose" using tax dollars to support international abortion. Reinterpretation of the amendment, even for exceptional circumstances, will result in the export of abortion commodities and training overseas. This could lead to an increase in the use of abortion as a racist tool of oppression against ethnic and religious minorities.

Those hoping to repeal the Helms Amendment will defend their errand as if for the better good of the nations they plan to serve. But they hide their true purpose, just as Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, wrote in 1939, “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.”

The crux of the matter is whether abortion is a humanitarian aid or human destruction? Does the U.S. have an obligation to fund abortion internationally or whether we, as Americans, have the right to refuse to fund the abortion industry around the world?

If you believe as I do, we have the power and responsibility to preserve the culture of life in developing countries.

Act NOW! Sign our petition and ask Secretary of State Antony Blinken to ensure that the U.S. does NOT repeal the Helms Amendment, protecting innocent lives across the globe!
