Indivisibles,

Last night, Tammy Murphy -- wife to NJ Gov. Phil Murphy and former
Republican -- announced that she was [ [link removed] ]dropping out of the NJ Democratic
Senate Primary clearing the path for Andy Kim to become the presumptive
nominee.

This is huge. For those of you who don’t remember: [ [link removed] ]Andy Kim is one of
our first endorsed candidates of the 2024 election cycle and was up
against the entire machine of the NJ Democratic Party system.

How did we get here?

* Indivisible was named as a [ [link removed] ]critical early endorser of Andy’s
campaign.
* The New York Times noted our history of flipping seats in New Jersey
while observing our endorsement as a [ [link removed] ]key piece of the momentum for
his campaign.
* And our groups showed up to [ [link removed] ]fight back against the unjust party
machine, helping to create the conditions that made it clear to Murphy
that even with the machine backing, Andy’s grassroots energy couldn’t
be beaten.

This is just one more reminder that when Indivisibles organize, we win!

Despite the political noise of the moment, Indivisibles are continuing to
organize for candidates and policies this cycle that will march into
Congress and stand up for the American people.

If you haven’t checked out [ [link removed] ]Ezra’s email from this weekend, it’s an
important reminder that our vision, our way of fighting for a better
future, is impactful, lasting, and popular. We truly have the ability to
change the direction of American politics as we know it as long as we stay
in the fight.

Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will hear arguments [ [link removed] ]regarding FDA approval
for mifepristone -- a case with far-reaching implications that could
jeopardize access to the most common method of abortion across the
country, even in states where abortion is legal. This despite the fact
that a [ [link removed] ]majority of Americans believe in abortion access. All the while,
[ [link removed] ]Trump is still running on a national abortion ban.

When we organize for candidates like Andy Kim, we work to ensure that the
next Congress can end the filibuster and enshrine reproductive freedoms
into federal law. Every step we take toward that goal is one small step
toward a safer, healthier, and more accessible country for all Americans.

It’s not just that we need to win. It’s that we’ve proven time and again
that we can win.

But we can’t do it without your help…

With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

 Your weekly to-dos

 1. [ [link removed] ]Sign up to defend democracy from Trump with Project 2024: Majority
Over MAGA. Our Project 2024 was made in direct opposition to Trump’s
dangerous MAGA objectives. This new electoral program will ensure
Indivisibles all across the country have the opportunity to make a
difference in the highest-priority races this cycle and prevent a MAGA
catastrophe from taking place. This will include tactics like
phonebanking, postcarding, and direct-to-voter texting along with our
groundbreaking community conversation strategy: Neighbor2Neighbor.
Sign up to be the first to know when we launch our tools in your area.
 2. [ [link removed] ]Call your senator and demand they protect in vitro fertilization
(IVF) access nationwide. The MAGA agenda did not just stop at
repealing Roe. They intend to ban contraception, IVF, gender-affirming
care, marriage equality, and more. Sen. Tammy Duckworth has introduced
the Access to Family Building Act, a bill that would enshrine access
to IVF and related services as a federal right, protecting both
would-be families and their medical providers. If your senator is a
Democrat, call and make sure they are a cosponsor. If your senator is
a Republican, tell them to put their money where their mouth is, pass
this bill, and actually support families. [ [link removed] ]When you’re finished
calling, send your senators an email urging them to protect IVF
access.
 3. [ [link removed] ]Register for the Indivisible Rural Caucus Call this Wednesday,
March 27 at 8pm ET/5pm PT. We’re getting ahead of election madness by
talking to you about one of the most important tools you have as a
group: The ability to run an exciting slate in a red state or rural
area. This month’s Rural Call is all about laying the groundwork now
in order to finish strong in November's elections, and beyond --
whether it's red state wins in 2024 or building local power to chase
bad actors down, this month's call will help you make it happen by
explaining the tools and tips we have available to you. Reminder:
Anyone can come to the rural call but the focus will specifically be
on rural strategies and issues.
 4. Keep reading below for more actions.

P.S. We rely on grassroots supporters to help fund the tools Indivisibles
use on a daily basis -- including the call pages and LTE tools on your to
do list! [ [link removed] ]If you're able, pitch in today to help fund our work and keep
this movement going.

Affordable Care Act Anniversary and Medicare Advantage

Last Saturday (3/23) was the anniversary of the passage of the Affordable
Care Act (colloquially known as Obamacare or the ACA) -- one of the most
impactful pieces of legislation this century.

As Democrats spent the weekend [ [link removed] ]highlighting in their celebrations,
it’s important to remember: Millions of Americans currently have
healthcare coverage as a result of this policy, the ACA removed
discriminatory barriers for elderly Americans and Americans with
disabilities in accessing healthcare, and imposed requirements for plans
to cover women’s preventative health services (e.g. birth control, breast
and cervical cancer screenings, prenatal care).

The ACA has been a massive success for all Americans.

But as we remember, Republicans did everything in their power to block it,
and some, like Trump, are [ [link removed] ]still vowing to repeal it. The bellwether
that signals good healthcare policy seems to be that Republicans hate it.

Which brings us to today.

We know the MAGA agenda includes [ [link removed] ]ending Medicare as we know it -- and
a big part of their scheme includes handing the reins to private insurers.
But we already know what happens when greedy insurance companies are put
in charge: Medicare Advantage, the privatized option for Medicare, is
rampant with fraud and overspending. If we allow insurance companies
unchecked power to run the program, we risk sticking millions of Americans
with coverage that promises quality healthcare only to deny coverage for
essential care and services.

Congress must hold these predatory Medicare Advantage plans accountable,
and that starts with blocking the deceptive naming of these private plans.
This is not Medicare, it is an attempt to further enrich the super-wealthy
on the backs of aging Americans.

[ [link removed] ]If you believe that people should not have to worry about being ripped
off while seeking health care, we need you to speak out now. Email your
MoC about cosponsoring H.R. 732 -- the Save Medicare Act today.

Call for a Humanitarian Ceasefire

**Content Warning: Talk about the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Jump to the line break if you need to avoid this topic.**

This morning, the [ [link removed] ]U.N. Security Council passed a resolution calling
for an immediate ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadan in the hope of
promoting a lasting peace. The vote passed 14-0, with the US abstaining
after vetoing three previous attempts at a ceasefire resolution.

In response, [ [link removed] ]Netanyahu’s administration canceled a trip to Washington
to discuss their planned offensive in Rafah -- a clear indication of
Bibi’s refusal to de-escalate this humanitarian crisis.

Though the Security Council does not have an enforcement mechanism,
resolutions are considered international law and could lead to sanctions.
This is a long-awaited moment of the international community driving
decisively toward peace.

Last week, [ [link removed] ]26 Democratic senators (PDF) and [ [link removed] ]six members of the
House (PDF) wrote letters to President Biden urging him to ensure that any
aid we provide to Israel “advances a viable and achievable military plan
that supports a long-term vision for peace, security and Palestinian
self-determination.” Every day our congresspeople are moving a little
further toward promoting peace.

We must do our part.

As a world leader, the US must demonstrate our commitments to peace and
the safety of civilian populations, and that starts with Congress. That
means calling for a ceasefire, the return of the hostages, and unimpeded
access to humanitarian aid. With 1.2 million people (half of them
children) facing starvation, it’s past time to lean into our humanity and
bring this crisis to an end.

Make sure your representative is on board.
