When I flipped a Republican-held congressional seat, it’s fair to say I broke the mold in a few ways. Not just because I became Kansas’s only federally elected Democratic representative. But also because, I’m an LGBTQ+ Native American woman and former MMA fighter who was raised by a single Army mom and worked multiple jobs to pay my own way through school. So, no, it’s fair to say I didn’t come to Washington with your typical congressional resume.
But I also want to be clear about this: I’m not asking for your support — or anyone else’s — just because of who I am or the road I took to get to Congress. I’m asking for your support because of my record: what I’ve used my voice to fight for in Washington, and what I’ll keep fighting for if I have the privilege of continuing to serve. My philosophy has always been that we need leaders who are grown-up enough to put partisanship aside and get things done. That’s why I’m proud to have helped create over 20,000 clean-energy jobs right here in KS-03. It’s why I’m proud to have saved seniors money on insulin and passed a bipartisan infrastructure law that’s kick-started construction on over 300 vital projects across Kansas. And it’s why I’m so determined to restore abortion rights, defend our democracy, and make our economy work better for Americans who are struggling today — because together, we’ve tackled tough problems and weathered tough times before. And I know that we can keep making real progress if we stay in the fight. If you’re with me, I’d be so grateful for anything you can pitch in to help me win this race → If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
