John, The change of seasons has brought many of our traditions together to observe something beautiful about our world, our faith, and our neighbors. I hope this week brings you meaning and joy, and I hope you’ll join us for part of it.
Tomorrow is our Women Empowerment Forum at Central Library! Our featured speaker is Jan-Micheal Sacharko, Director of Development at Doorways, who will be sharing about the organization’s history and current mission. It’s going to be a great way to close out Women’s History Month, so I hope to see you there! (Also, check out their wishlist here and consider donating to the cause!)
And remember - before our General Body Meeting/Forum, there is a rally for medicinal abortion access at the Supreme Court with the Arlington Dem’s Women’s caucus before the Alliance of Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA case. The fight for our rights and bodily autonomy has many fronts, so please come help where you can!
Happy Spring! ~Samantha

March General Body Meeting (Facebook, Google Calendar)
Join us for our monthly meeting tomorrow: we will be hearing from Jan-Michael Sacharko, Director of Development, at Doorways. Jan will be providing an overview of Doorways mission, and community resources, along with some changes and advocacy opportunities here in Arlington and in Richmond.
Doorways began in 1978 when a group of concerned community members saw there was no safe place in Arlington for families in crisis. What began then with one shelter and one response has grown into a series of pathways individually tailored for adults, youth, and children seeking safety and shelter. From immediate crisis intervention to counseling, housing, and employment support, we offer real options and multiple pathways for people of all ages and genders—women, men, youth, and LGBTQIA+ people.
Doorways is also looking for donations to support their mission and those they serve. Please visit: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3IPXPXL06TBJR/ Date: March 26th, 2024 Time: 6:30 PM Location: Arlington Central Library Auditorium 1015 N Quincy St |
March Donation Drive for Doorways and N Street Village! In honor of Women's History Month, AYD is highlighting ongoing donation drives at Doorways—an organization committed to breaking the cycles of abuse, homelessness, and poverty, and Arlington’s only provider of safe housing for survivors, and N STreet Villagem supporting women experiencing homelessness in DC. With over 1 in 3 women (35.6%) in the US having experienced sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime1, the need for supportive services is more critical than ever.
Both of these organizations are collecting donations and essential items to support their respective communities. Please take a look at the donation pages below and consider contributing to these meaningful causes, or drop a donation off at one of our events this month.
