John,

It’s maddening.

This March, as people celebrate March Madness and Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting the frustrating obstacles of economic inequities that still exist for 50% of the country.

A Latina woman has to work 70 years to earn what a white man does in 35. Even though women are more likely to go to college, men still go home with $1 while women go home with 0.83 cents. Ask the average single woman how much “wealth” she owns. $3,210. Single men? $10,150.

When you read about women who have accomplished incredible feats this month, you should remember they were overcoming barriers. Barriers that should be long gone — and don’t have to be here anymore, either.

That’s where you come in, John. Prosperity Now is plugging away at the work that can make these statistics history, so by this time next year, the gender wealth gap is a bit more closed — until it’s gone.

But we need your help. Every dollar counts to fuel our work to usher in community programs and sweeping initiatives that are making a difference for women who no longer want to be a part of these shocking statistics. [[link removed]]

We also raise the flag on how helping people of color in our economy means helping all of us. In New York City alone, $11.8 billion more could be added to the local economy if the Latina wage gap were closed. The more awareness we raise to facts like these, the more we can get everyone to rally behind women’s economic equality.

We support entrepreneurs of color because research shows that business owners of color generate good jobs for their communities. Take our Pilot Design Lab, which is amassing real-life solutions for Black female retail entrepreneurs to help build sustainability and scalability.

We push for nationwide policies that give female workers an income boost. Programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the expanded Child Tax Credit (CTC) — if more powerful and permanent — can help give women more freedom in our economy by providing an income boost to use for household expenses and keep their families out of poverty.

John, there’s much more we can say about what we’re doing, but we won’t keep you long. It’s time to get to work.

We can change our economy — and stop leaving half our country behind to deal with infuriating double standards. If you’re ready to make that happen, please consider making a gift of any amount you can today. [[link removed]]

Together, we can fight these maddening facts.

Sincerely,

Prosperity Now
