Ronna McDaniel tried to sabotage the 2020 election and still spreads the Big Lie

On Friday, NBC made a leading election denier its newest political commentator when it announced that Ronna McDaniel, former Republican National Committee chair and Trump ally would be joining the the network.1 

Ronna McDaniel actively worked to sabotage the 2020 election results alongside Trump. And for the past four years, McDaniel has been sowing doubt around the 2020 election, refusing to acknowledge that Joe Biden legitimately won the election.2 Election deniers like McDaniel should be held accountable for their attempts to undermine our democracy, not rewarded with high-profile jobs.

And some of the network's show hosts are making their opposition to this decision crystal clear, on air.3 Just this morning, "Morning Joe" hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski criticized the move, saying she'll never make an appearance on their show and NBC should reconsider their decision to hire her. And last night, Chuck Todd, former host of NBC's "Meet the Press," blasted the network after an interview between McDaniel and NBC host Kristen Welker, claiming the network should apologize to Welker for the absurd position they put her in.

NBC must reverse course and not give Ronna McDaniel this platform. It's critical that hundreds of thousands of people demonstrate our clear opposition to make this happen! Will you sign the petition to demand NBC remove McDaniel as a political commentator now?

NBC must reverse its decision to hire Ronna McDaniel as a political commentator for the network. Election deniers have no place in reporting news and influencing millions of viewers!

In an interview with CNN's Chris Wallace last year, when she was asked about her views on the 2020 election, she said, "I think there were lots of problems with 2020. Ultimately he won the election, but there were lots of problems with the 2020 election ... I don't think he won it fair. I don't. I'm not going to say that."4 She’s clearly trying to play it both ways, but we know election denial when we hear it.

And then there's her active role in trying to reverse the election results. In the immediate aftermath of the 2020 election, she was recorded on a phone call with Donald Trump pressuring two Michigan election officials to not certify the results, ensuring them that they would find them attorneys if they complied.5 This was a blatant intimidation tactic for them to get their way, even though they knew Trump lost, and this person has no place giving her political commentary, on NBC, or anywhere else.

This is one of the many reasons that NBC shouldn't reward McDaniel's election interference with a job at its network. Click here to sign the petition to demand that they remove her NOW. It'll take both network hosts speaking out and hundreds of thousands of people opposing this decision to make NBC reverse course.

Despite McDaniel speaking disparagingly about both NBC and MSNBC for years, calling the networks "fake news" and more, NBC's Carrie Budoff Brown, who oversees the network's news coverage claimed, "It couldn't be a more important moment to have a voice like Ronna's on the team."6 It's unthinkable that NBC would cave for ratings and hire an election denier and Trump apologist to report to millions of Americans about the 2024 election.
