John,

When Donald Trump first took office, he withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement, a landmark international effort that set aggressive global carbon emissions goals to fight climate change.

Thankfully, on Biden’s first day in office, the United States officially rejoined the Paris Climate Agreement. But if Trump and his allies win in November, they are quietly developing a plan to not only pull out of Paris again, but to make such a move permanent so future Presidents can never rejoin again.

John, we must act now to defend our global alliance to stop climate change. Will you donate $25, or any amount, to support SEEC Members in Congress who are fighting to keep the Paris Climate Agreement alive? [[link removed]]

SAVE THE PARIS CLIMATE AGREEMENT » [[link removed]]We know that the U.S. cannot solve climate change on our own. If we’re going to succeed, it’s going to take a global coalition with other countries working to reduce their emissions as well.

Conservatives aligned with former President Trump have drafted a 920-page policy roadmap that involves pulling the United States from the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, the alliance to prevent dangerous human interference with the climate. Leaving the UNFCCC would be even more devastating than exiting the Paris Agreement, because it would take the Senate to re-ratify the underlying treaty to rejoin.

As a civics lesson reminder, it takes a 2/3 vote in the Senate to ratify a treaty, which means that in this era of small congressional majorities, any treaty needs Republican votes to pass. While conservatives were willing to ratify this treaty back in 1992 when it was originally created, we hold no faith that the modern GOP would vote for such a treaty.

SEEC PAC members know that we must build a global coalition and take accountability for our climate commitments to address climate change. We cannot stand idly by while Trump and his allies scheme to dismantle these crucial international agreements.

Will you donate now to support our SEEC climate champions in this critical election? Making a donation today will send a message to Congress that we will not allow anti-environment MAGA extremists to take us backward. [[link removed]]
