Ask President Biden to Designate the Kw'tsán National Monument >> [link removed]

Hi friend,

EnviroVoters is amplifying the efforts of the Fort Yuma Quechan Tribe to establish Kw'tsán National Monument. This would permanently protect their sacred homelands in Imperial County, California.

We stand with the Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Tribe in acknowledging the importance of protecting this monument, which encompasses over 390,000 acres of culturally rich, ecologically vital, and historically significant lands.

The proposed national monument is integral to preserving the cultural values, belief systems, and traditional practices of the Quechan people. We need to preserve this culturally and ecologically important landscape, for both the Quechan people and visitors from around the world.

Friend, with the stroke of a pen, President Biden can use his powers under the Antiquities Act to establish this as a national monument today! Will you add your name to our petition to President Biden?

A Kw'tsán National Monument would ensure the continuation of Tribal citizens' ceremonies, cultural activities, and gatherings within the protected area. Moreover, it would create a collaborative opportunity for the Quechan Tribe to engage with federal agencies in the monument management planning process, incorporating Quechan values, knowledge, expertise, and worldviews.

The proposed national monument is part of a greater cultural landscape, connecting Avi Kwa Lal, Palo Verde Peak, the proposed Chuckwalla National Monument, and Spirit Mountain in Avi Kwa Ame National Monument.

Designating the Kw'tsán National Monument would provide essential protections for wildlife and sacred cultural sites. This designation would also prevent new harmful activities within its boundaries, such as new mine claims and large scale industrial development.

Please sign our petition to show President Biden the public support behind honoring the Fort Yuma Quechan Indian Tribe's commitment to preserving their homelands by establishing the Kw'tsán National Monument >> [link removed]

Thanks for taking action.
