GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles

Earlier this month, we gathered at the 35th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles to celebrate the best of LGBTQ inclusion in film, music, television, and journalism. We reveled in Niecy Nash-Betts living authentically and honored Oprah for the decades she has spent amplifying LGBTQ stories and issues. GLAAD President and CEO, Sarah Kate Ellis reminded us how much the media landscape has changed during her 10 years at GLAAD but that the work is far from over, especially during this election cycle. Trans Day of Visibility is March 31st

Each year on March 31, the world observes Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) to raise awareness and amplify the voices of transgender people. It is a day to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, while drawing attention to the challenges facing trans people and ways that allies can show up to support the community in the face of so much anti-trans rhetoric and political attacks.

As GLAAD continues to push the media to tell more accurate and authentic stories about trans people, you can watch and read some wonderful media stories that were nominated for GLAAD Media Awards this year.

Support Queer Youth with Brian

While working on A Kids Book About Queer Mental Health, Brian wanted to create something that has real impact, that would make queer kids reading his book feel empowered, seen, and loved, and never have to question their worth. His book has been supported and endorsed by prominent LGBTQ community leaders and allies including Hilary Clinton. As the world's most prominent nonprofit focused on accelerating LGBTQ acceptance through cultivating, shaping, and celebrating authentic queer stories in all forms of media, Brian is partnering with GLAAD to donate a percentage of his book proceeds in support of GLAAD's mission and invites supporters to help him raise $5,000 to support GLAAD's vital work in accelerating LGBTQ acceptance.
