Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:
It is disgraceful that the Biden administration refused to veto the pro-Hamas United Nations Security Council resolution passed today calling for an “immediate ceasefire” for the month of Ramadan leading to a permanent sustainable ceasefire. The Biden administration’s failure to veto the resolution enabled this anti-Israel/antisemitic resolution to pass. Calling for an “immediate ceasefire” enables Hamas’ terror army to survive, regroup and rebuild its ability to attack innocent Israelis again and again and again.
Moreover, the United States previously warned that the UNSC resolution could hurt negotiations to halt hostilities and release hostages, and hinted that the U.S. would veto it. But then the Biden administration ignored its own prior warning that negotiations would be harmed, and refused to veto this dangerous pro-terrorist, pro-Hamas resolution.
Significantly, the resolution did not make its call for an immediate ceasefire conditional on the resolution’s separate call for “the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages” and ensuring humanitarian access to address their medical and other humanitarian needs. Hamas will of course ignore the call to release or allow access to the hostages. Thus, the resolution in effect only provides ammunition against the Jewish State of Israel.
In addition, the resolution demands lifting all barriers to the provision of humanitarian assistance at scale – another demand that Hamas will ignore, and that will be solely used to attack Israel, despite Israel allowing in massive amounts of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, the bulk of which is stolen by Hamas.
It is also notable that today’s UN resolution still failed to condemn Hamas’ October 7, 2023 mass atrocities perpetrated against Israeli civilians. The UN has failed to do so throughout the past five months.
By contrast, on Friday, the UNSC immediately condemned the deadly ISIS terror attack at a Russian concert hall. The UNSC Russian concert hall statement declared that “terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security” and called “for all States to combat by all means, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and other obligations under international law, threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts.”
But according to the UN – and the Biden administration which enabled the UN’s duplicitous double standards – when terrorists attack Jews or Israel, the terrorists should be helped and defended instead of combatted by all means! This double standard has a name. It’s called antisemitism!
