As Doctors Without Borders teams continue to respond to the coronavirus pandemic, every dollar—every cent even—will make a difference. These are uncertain times for all of us, and generous monthly support allows us to prepare in advance for the unknown.
Doctors Without Borders has seen firsthand how an infectious disease outbreak can devastate a community. So we’re thinking of you and your loved ones during this difficult moment—and we’ve taken concrete steps to protect our staff, medical and non-medical, alike. But that’s forced us to make some extremely difficult choices: We’ve suspended our face-to-face fundraising work, even though that means we could miss this end-of-quarter goal.
We don’t want our canvassing teams—the dedicated people who hit the streets every day, inspiring others to support Doctors Without Borders—to endanger their own health, or that of others. But at the same time, we urgently need funding for our medical responses around the world—dollars that will go toward treating people in need of care, essential protective equipment for our medical staff, and other important work.
This email was sent from the U.S. section of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care.
