This campaign was always about the bold policy changes that I knew would make our society better and save rural America from total decline: universal healthcare access, a New Deal for our rural communities that brings back well-paying jobs with dignity, and a massive effort to mobilize resources to clean up and save our environment. These priorities are still at the center of our campaign; but watching my opponent completely fail at taking even basic leadership during this public health crisis— voting against every single bipartisan measure to save lives, shore up our health systems, and rescue the economy from utter collapse —has been clarifying, and sobering.

I am more motivated now than ever to run as strongly as I can, to call out this wholesale abdication of leadership, this politician who is completely devoid of empathy and of basic human compassion...and to beat Jason Smith once and for all at the ballot box in November.
