John, we knew they were bad, but even we couldn't believe how much this Government is trying to mislead the public.

When he became Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak promised "integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level", so you think he and his government would be extra careful in making sure that they are being honest with the public.

But with their approval ratings at rock bottom, it seems they will say just about anything.

We reviewed the online Twitter/X accounts of top Government and Opposition figures and found that the Government were flagged far more often for sharing misleading content or incorrect information.

The Independent highlighted the most egregious offenders uncovered by our research, but it's incredible to think that the party which had the brass neck to turn its Twitter account into a 'fact-checker' during the last election is now the one most needing to be fact-checked.

In an election year and with political trust at an all time low, we need a Government willing to be honest with the public.

We need a General Election now!
