I’m sure that your inbox is full of emails from campaigns asking for your support. (Mine is too!)

And candidly, yes, this is also one of those emails. Believe it or not, if we’re going to keep this seat blue and have a shot at retaking our House majority next year, it’s really important that we plan ahead and hit our early fundraising targets.

But if you need more of an explanation, here is important context for why I need to ask for your help:

• Multiple right-wing super PACs attacked me in the home stretch of the November election, and fighting back took almost everything we had.

• We need to be prepared to face even fiercer attacks in the next election, and we are starting nearly from scratch.

• When I was elected, I promised I’d fight for the regular families whose needs so often go overlooked in Washington. Every day, I’m working to do exactly that.

• In just the last month, House Republicans have proposed plans to restrict abortion rights, hammer working families with a 30% national sales tax, gut Social Security, hike the cost of insulin, and raise health insurance premiums.

• I’m fighting back against that backwards agenda with everything I’ve got, and I’m doing everything I can to make progress on the issues we care about. But I can’t do it without a strong grassroots team behind me.

Team, if we’re going to keep up the fight, protect this seat, and regain Democratic control of Congress in the next election, I need your help. We can’t be complacent or let Republicans catch us flatfooted — the stakes are far too high for that.
