When I founded The Trevor Project in 1998, I knew that our organization would be needed for decades to come. What I didn't foresee is that 26 years later, the community we serve would be in the fight for its life. 

Recent legislative attacks and vitriol have taken their toll on so many members of our beloved community. The Trevor Project’s recent research shows that nearly 1 in 3 LGBTQ+ young people said their mental health was poor due to anti-LGBTQ+ policies and legislation most of the time or always.

In the past year, 41% — nearly half of these LGBTQ+ young people — seriously considered attempting suicide. Indeed, anti-equality measures and organized opposition have truly pushed many to the brink when it comes to their mental health and well-being.

We cannot allow this to stand. The Trevor Project’s crisis intervention and suicide prevention programs are unparalleled. We have made a life-saving difference in hundreds of thousands of young LGBTQ+ lives.
