Celebrating National School Breakfast Week
We all know of the endless benefits that come
from breakfast in the classroom - from helping kids focus and
learn to providing them energy throughout the day. March 4 - 8 is
National School Breakfast Week, so it's a perfect opportunity to
highlight some statistics:
* Students who eat school breakfast achieve 17.5% higher scores on
standardized tests and attend 1.5 more days of school per year.
* Those higher attendance rates lead to a 20% greater likelihood
of high school graduation, which shows that breakfast in the
classroom sets up kids for success, for life.
School breakfast is a hugely successful No Kid Hungry campaign
due to the continued support of donors such as yourself.

Pediatricians No Kid Hungry Partnership: Setting Kids Up for Success
Today, 1 in 5 kids in America lives with
hunger. Nutrition is a forever medicine, which is why it's
critical to note the relationship between food access and healthcare.
No Kid Hungry is collaborating with the American Academy of Pediatrics
(AAP) to ensure pediatricians across the country have appropriate
food access resources to share with parents and their kids
caregivers. With support from No Kid Hungry, the AAP has trained over
5,500 providers on food insecurity and engaged with 14 local AAP
chapters in projects to improve state and local 'screen and
intervene' practices. The future of the relationship between
food access and healthcare for children is looking bright.

Giving Kids the Summer They Deserve
Summer should be a fun time for all kids
- they should be biking, swimming, camping, and so much more.
But not all children get to experience the sweet joys of summer. For
the 1 in 5 kids living with hunger in America, this time of year. The
good news is - Congress has made several changes in the past
year that will likely make this coming summer easier for hungry kids
across the country, including creating access for kids in more rural
areas and the expansion of a summer-long grocery benefit program for
kids. As always, none of this would be possible without NKH supporters
such as yourself.
