JOHN, Happy Maryland Day!
390 years ago today, the first European settlers from England who traveled on the Ark and the Dove first set foot on St. Clements Island in current Saint Mary's County.
160 years ago, in 1864, Maryland was divided with many Marylanders fighting for the north and many Marylanders fighting for the south in the American Civil War.
During the Civil War, TWO Maryland flags were flown: One for the southern sympathizers, a red and white cross, and one with Lord Baltimore’s colors, gold and black, for the northern sympathizers. After the war, they had a choice.

Maryland could focus on the enormous division between the two groups and fly only the “winner’s” colors, gold and black, OR they could pave a new way, uniting everyone.
Our current Maryland flag was born, displaying both flags. Arguably, it is the most interesting state flag in our entire country. Click here ([link removed]) to read more about our Maryland flag.
Fortunately, our forebearers chose to recognize that although we may have our differences, we are all Marylanders…all worthy of respect as people, despite our differences. It was time to work together.
Now it is our turn to work together for what the vast majority of Marylanders want to see.
Closing our border? CHECK. Almost everyone agrees that having more than the entire population of Maryland cross our border just in the last 3 years is bad for our safety, for our economy, and for the horrifying battle against drug overdoses.
Reducing inflation? CHECK. Almost everyone agrees that families need help. We all pay 20.8% more now for groceries, 32.3% more to heat their homes, and $1.10/gallon more for gas.
Supporting the police? CHECK Almost everyone sees that with the lack of law and order where our police are not supported, car-robberies in Montgomery County, MD, have more than doubled in just one year.
Unfortunately, the leadership of the Democrat Party is out-of-touch and not acting on what the majority of Marylanders want and need. We need Republicans to take back the Presidency, the Senate, and to get much larger numbers in the US House in order to be effective.
Happy Maryland Day, March 25, 2024. I'm looking forward to working alongside you to get elected to the US Congress to bring common-sense back to our country. Your family is worth the work.
For our country,
Neil
