WHY NEW NATIONAL PARKS?
75 years on from the creation of our first National Parks, the UK faces new challenges, from growing inequality and pressures on rural communities to rapid biodiversity loss and a worsening climate. Creating new National Parks is a critical opportunity for the UK to tackle these challenges; restoring habitats, promoting equity in access to nature and boosting climate resilience.
Whilst we welcome plans for new National Parks across the country, it is essential that all National Parks, new and existing, are supported by the funding and legislation needed to thrive for people, nature and the planet.
