Start Harvesting Your Rainwater Today!
Non-Toxic Schools, a project of A Voice for Choice, celebrated World Water Day this past Friday by sharing how you can collect rainwater from your roof for later use. This not only conserves water, but also reaps a host of environmental benefits like stormwater management, erosion control, flood prevention, as well as personal benefits, such as reducing water bills and your dependence on municipal water supplies. many municipalities are giving away rain barrels or giving rebates for ones you purchase.
For every inch of rain on every square foot of your roof, you have the potential to capture over half a gallon of water. That’s more than 600 gallons from just 1000 square feet of roof area!
For more information and how to get started collecting rainwater, as well as state stormwater collection laws and where to get your free rain barrels and rebates can be found on the Non-Toxic Schools website: https://nontoxicschools.org/rainwater-collection/
