In the wake of the Government's new definition of extremism and attempt to 'cancel' Muslim community groups like the MCB out of public life, our leadership team have been leading the challenge for communities up and down the country.

Marking the second annual ‘International Day to combat Islamophobia‘ MCB Secretary-General joined thought leaders, experts, academics and civil society groups across the globe for an international conference in Baku.

The conference was hosted in partnership by Baku International Multiculturalism Centre and the G20 Interfaith Dialogue Forum, March 6-8th, 2024

The Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) has released a briefing based on the 2021 Census data, highlighting the demographic and socioeconomic status of Muslims in England and Wales. 

The report, discussed at the online launch event emphasised the challenges British Muslims face, including limited opportunities and social mobility.

MCB re-affirmed it's commitment to social advocacy through our ongoing work as a member of the London Anchors Network, represented by Assistant Secretary-General Mariam Hassam.

As a member of the steering committee, Mariam contributes regularly to meetings on how to address long-standing social and economic inequalities and the growing climate emergency.
