John,

In the wake of tragic violence, students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in Parkland, Florida, started the March for Our Lives movement to end gun violence and on March 24, 2018, led the largest single day of protest against gun violence in history.

Since 2018, more than 24,395 children and young people have died from gun violence, and every corner of our country has seen the horror of gun violence. This is why the movement started by March for Our Lives has grown and will continue to grow, because gun violence is still an American reality.

Not enough has been done to end the epidemic of gun violence. We don't need to look far to see the result of gun violence in Iowa — we all remember the shooting at Perry High School. Our communities have felt the maddening horror of gun violence and how it grips each of our lives.

And what did Kim Reynolds and her extremist Republican allies have to say about stopping gun violence? Not much. Did they do anything to try and prevent tragedies like this in the future? No, they decided that more guns at school is the best solution.

And when we asked for common sense reforms, this was their response:

"..."

Iowans deserve better. School children deserve better. We all deserve better.

I ran for office to solve problems and to build a better future for our families, and that means taking action on gun violence. We need more Democrats in the state legislature in order to stop gun violence in our state. Can I count on you to chip in $11 today and join us in this fight to elect the Democrats who will make this possible?

Stand Tall for All,

J.D.
