Rage.

That’s what I feel every time we witness another mass shooting.

It’s always the same story: Students and teachers murdered in their classrooms; families in grocery stores; young people at concerts, bars, and parades. Rage, pain, and tearful outcries to demand change to save lives — to do literally anything — are met with virtually no action from the people who can actually do something about it.

Every. Single. Time.

That’s what happened six years ago today. I joined my classmates and other survivors on the National Mall to express our rage. You may have been there too — or demanding change in Washington — more than one million people around the world joined us.

Here we are six years later. While we’ve made a lot of progress in passing common-sense gun legislation and electing gun safety champions, we’re still seeing the violence. But that feeling of rage six years ago has slowly eroded away for many people. It’s all become so regular that Americans have become numb. We can’t leave it in the past. Especially not in an election year. We need to show our politicians that gun violence is still a top priority for American voters. I’ve got three things you can do right now to reignite your outrage and help power the movement to end gun violence.

Step One: Repost your RAGE. Join MFOL and our partners for the #RepostYourRage virtual campaign. Find your or your favorite celebrities’ social media posts from six years ago about the shooting in Parkland and the first March For Our Lives, and repost them using the hashtag #RepostYourRage.

Step Two: Become a monthly donor. We’re asking folks to chip in $6 a month to mark the 6-year anniversary of the March For Our Lives and build the long-term power we need to end gun violence.

Step Three: Email Congress and demand a nationwide ban on assault weapons.

There’s strength in our numbers. Our elected officials need to know that if they won’t act, we won’t just be filled with rage. We’ll replace them.

Thanks for being in this fight with us.
