John,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our Weekend Update.
This week, I joined NewsNation to discuss the latest on additional aid for Ukraine. I discussed the need to include transformative border security provisions, such as Remain in Mexico, in any further foreign aid bill. Additionally, we covered my legislation aimed at reducing crime and holding ideological prosecutors accountable. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch.

I wrote to the Chief of Capitol Police this week urging him to drop the charges against Steve Nikoui, the Gold Star Father who expressed his anguish over the loss of his son during the State of the Union. (See letter below <[link removed]>) I’m pleased that the charges against him have officially been dropped. The sacrifices our nation’s Gold Star Families make are immense, and I’m thankful this situation has come to an appropriate resolution.

I joined the “American Agenda” with Newsmax to discuss my letter to the Capitol Police Chief urging him to drop the charges against Gold Star Father Steve Nikoui and the upcoming vote on government funding legislation. We also covered the many failures of the Biden Administration, including the President’s inability to recognize the serious impact his self-created crises have on the American people. Real leadership means putting American businesses and the customers they serve first. U.S. financial regulators should defend our interests in deals with Europe, not cede control. Losing our business sovereignty risks our status as the world's preeminent financial market. Click here <[link removed]> to watch my remarks.

I participated in a hearing highlighting how the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's regulations are stifling, not aiding investors and small businesses — the backbone of American innovation. With my ACCESS Act (HR 6825) and upcoming legislation for increased SEC transparency, Financial Services Committee Republicans are pushing for a framework that truly supports capital formation and protects investors. Despite bipartisan concerns, last year, the SBA moved ahead with an irresponsible and rushed process to award three new Small Business Lending Companies (SBLCs) licenses, allowing awardees to offer government-guaranteed loans to small businesses.
Less than a year later, one of the three lenders admitted into the program announced the sale of their U.S. business, citing mounting losses and unwillingness to provide the capital necessary to succeed in the program. I asked SBA Administrator Guzman about these concerning developments that have resulted from the rushed rule process. Click here <[link removed]> or below to watch my remarks.
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Joe Biden's decisions have led to chaos, crises, and destruction. Instead of accepting responsibility, however, he shamefully claims success and pledges to double down on disasters.
Here are three examples:
- The Border Crisis – Biden has been lying about the border <[link removed]> for over three years – from declaring the crisis seasonal, to insisting he had “gotten control,” to blaming everyone but himself. Biden could end the border crisis today by reversing his executive actions. He refuses.
<[link removed]>
- The Economy – Biden headed to Nevada and Arizona to talk about “lowering costs.” Meanwhile, costs are up 20.6% <[link removed]> in both Arizona and Nevada since Biden took office. In the face of the facts, he still insists his policies are “working <[link removed]>.” For more on how “Bidenomics” is devastating Nevada and Arizona families, read this piece <[link removed]> from RNC Rapid Response Director Jake Schneider.
- Afghanistan – Biden told us <[link removed]> Afghanistan wouldn’t fall. He told us <[link removed]> it wouldn’t be another Saigon. He told us <[link removed]> it was “highly unlikely” the Taliban would overrun the country. He was wrong on all counts <[link removed]>, and 13 American heroes died as a result. Still, he insists he “was right <[link removed]>” and refuses to hold anyone in his administration accountable, let alone take responsibility himself. Today, House Republicans continue their work <[link removed]> to deliver the answers and accountability Americans deserve.

Americans are dying because of Biden’s disastrous decisions. Yet, the nation and the world are in chaos, Biden claims success. It's time to finally retire Joe Biden.
We celebrated National Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Day this week! Small businesses are the backbone of a prosperous America, and SBDCs nationwide play a pivotal role in fostering their growth and resilience. Last month, I met with Ernie Post, the Director of the Kutztown SBDC, to discuss my advocacy for small businesses in Congress.
I was happy to be recognized as a “Guardian of Seniors’ Rights” by the 60 Plus Association. In Congress, I will continue fighting to protect the rights of older Americans.
I met with Denise Dennis and her family to discuss the Dennis Farm Charitable Land Trust and their work to preserve their historic farmhouse in Susquehanna County. The organization is committed to continuing to develop the more than 225-year-old farm into an educational and cultural site for scholars, researchers, educators, and others interested in its extraordinary history.
We celebrate the dedicated men and women of American agriculture who keep us fed and drive our country forward. Thanks to agriculture, Pennsylvania boasts an annual contribution of $132.5 billion to its economy. Additionally, Pennsylvania ranks among the top ten states in dairy production. Additionally, Pennsylvania leads the nation in organic poultry and mushroom production. On National AG Day, we thank our local communities' hardworking farmers and producers!
Around the District:
On Saturday, my good friend and former State Representative Kurt Masser invited me to judge a “Soupie” contest held in the great coal region of Northumberland County. While there were many great soupies to try, only one could prevail.
After the soupie contest, I made my way to Lycoming County to the Consolidated Sportsmen of Muncy Creeks banquet held at the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Company. Thank you to my friend Patty Beck Henry for the invite.
Election Update:
On Monday, we held a fundraiser at Blue Ridge Trail Golf Club. Thank you to all of those who attended to provide your support for not just my campaign but Republican campaigns across the state and country.
I joined our great friend R.J. Harris on WHP-580. We discussed the new Emerson College poll that has Donald Trump leading Joe Biden in Pennsylvania 47% to 43%. Pennsylvanians want and deserve real leadership back in the White House. That’s why we need President Trump in 2024. Click here <[link removed]> or below to listen.
<[link removed]>
We have told you repeatedly that the road to the White House goes through Pennsylvania. Polls released this week show that while President Trump leads Biden by 8 points in Michigan, he is tied with Biden in Pennsylvania. Click here <[link removed]> to read. I know, I know... we too often talk about November being the most critical election of our lifetime. But there is so much at stake this November that I'm not sure how else to describe the presidential election. Biden has pushed our nation to the brink with his extreme, radical left agenda. Out-of-control inflation, a border crisis, rampant crime, a world on fire... Biden has not made one right decision on anything.
Meanwhile, President Trump has a proven track record of success on every issue facing our nation. He oversaw policies that created a booming economy before the pandemic, our border was the most secure it has been in decades, and there was largely peace across the globe. Time and time again, Trump made the right calls. I will work overtime this year to ensure Pennsylvania delivers its 19 electoral votes to President Trump.
As I mentioned last week, we are continuing to promote ballot applications, early voting, maximizing mail-in ballot returns for infrequent voters and those who might have a conflict on Election Day, and protecting the integrity of all citizen voter ballots. Mail-in ballot applications are now available. Since I am in session on Primary Day, my ballot application is in, and I will be voting by mail, EARLY! Even if there is as little as a 1% chance you may not be able to vote on Primary Election Day, we cannot take the chance. Request your ballot now. If you are concerned after mailing in your ballot, you still may vote with a provisional ballot on Election Day. For more information on how to request a mail-in or absentee ballot, click here <[link removed]>.
We look forward to catching up with you next week. God Bless, and see you soon,
Dan Meuser
