As Israel works to drive Hamas from power in Gaza, ensure Hamas can’t fulfill its promise to repeat October 7 "again and again," and free the hostages, our work to strengthen the U.S.-Israel relationship is more important than ever.
Thanks to our work together, this weekend, Congress passed, and President Biden signed into law, numerous major pro-Israel provisions in its annual appropriations bills, including more than $3.8 billion in funding for Israel.
Below my signature is an overview of the broad array of AIPAC-backed initiatives in the bill — including $3.3 billion in security assistance to Israel without added conditions, $500 million for missile defense cooperation, $87.5 million for counter-drone and anti-tunnel programs, and additional funding to expand America’s partnership with Israel in critical areas like energy, water, cyber and healthcare.
These important achievements would not have happened without strong relationships with many pro-Israel Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate. Especially in today’s polarized political environment, advancing these provisions is a major accomplishment.
In a normal year, this annual funding would be the central pillar of our legislative agenda, and even now it remains a critical element of ensuring Israel’s security amid growing threats — but this is not a normal year.
And while we should be proud of our work to secure this important funding for Israel, we must not lose sight of the extraordinary needs of our ally Israel and the special measures needed at this critical moment. Every day, we are continuing our work with Congress to ensure passage of legislation that would fund the president’s request for $14.3 billion in supplemental emergency security assistance for Israel. Israelis are safer today because of our work together over many years. I am so grateful to be partners in our shared mission to help keep Israel safe — today and for years and decades to come.
Thank you for your commitment to AIPAC. I look forward to updating you again with additional achievements on Capitol Hill.
Sincerely,
Michael Tuchin
AIPAC President
