Charting Nursing’s Future
offers a round-up of news stories from the frontline of COVID-19, including nurses’ reports of supply shortages, shifting protocols, methods of coping, and sources of strength.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on March 30 issued temporary orders to waive the requirements that certified registered nurse anesthetists must operate under the supervision of a physician. CMS also urges states to adopt measures in their emergency preparedness plans that may allow care for more people.
In addition to stories from the frontlines and bedsides, Charting Nursing’s Future
also reports on responses at the institutional level. Among them: On March 18, 12 national nursing organizations spoke with the coronavirus task force during a White House meeting. Meanwhile, nursing schools are canceling student rotations.
