Earlier this week, the Supreme Court allowed a discriminatory Texas law to go into effect. This anti-immigrant legislation allows state law enforcement officers to arrest people they suspect are illegally entering the United States from Mexico.
While advocates are still committed to fighting this law, legislation like this that legalizes racial discrimination sets a dangerous precedent and echoes shameful historical trends of xenophobia and hate.

A recently introduced bill called the California MENA Inclusion Act (AB 2763) would finally ensure that Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) Americans are represented in all state data, agencies, and institutions. Including a designated MENA category is a key step forward, making sure all communities are fully included and represented in our democracy. Be sure to #CountMENAinCA!

ICYMI: Our first 2024 New American Hero Awards [[link removed]] Honoree is Michigan State Senator and Assistant Majority Leader Darrin Camilleri! 🎉
[link removed] [[link removed]]
Darrin has devoted his life to public service. In 2016, he was elected to the Michigan State House of Representatives, and became the first ever Maltese American legislator and Michigan’s youngest Latino ever elected. Now, as the Assistant Majority Leader in the Senate, he continues to break down barriers by expanding college access, supporting public education, leading the first successful effort to repeal right to work legislation, and advocating for immigrant communities.
As a legislator, NAL trainer, and community advocate, Darrin has supported so many of us in our movement to create a stronger, more inclusive democracy ❤️ Please join us this summer in Washington, D.C. as we honor Darrin and his inspiring leadership! Reserve your tickets today! [[link removed]]
