Aerospace Nation:

A Conversation with the Mitchell Institute

The Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies is proud to announce its latest events series: Aerospace Nation: A Conversation with the Mitchell Institute. This week’s premier offering is a dialogue between Lt Gen (Ret.) David Deptula, Dean of the Mitchell Institute, and Air Force Chief of Staff General Dave Goldfein. Subsequent weeks will feature interviews with a broad range of Air Force and Space Force leaders to ensure individuals in the defense community and beyond are able to stay connected to important national defense perspectives and priorities. While COVID-19 has halted standard forms of engagement, the Aerospace Nation series is designed to provide a continuous exchange of ideas for which Mitchell Institute has become known.

Additionally, we will also be releasing a series of reports over the coming months that will highlight a range of topics including export considerations for unmanned aerial vehicles to ensure trusted U.S. allies are afforded access to America-built systems in a reasonable fashion; using a concept termed “cost-per-effect” to heighten the effectiveness and efficiency of military operations; and assessing the respective long range strike balance between stand-in aircraft that penetrate enemy defenses and stand-off strike systems that fire munitions at greater range. To ensure maximum audience engagement, these releases will be executed by webinar and feature discussions with a range of defense leaders and experts.

Finally, please know that your Mitchell Institute team remains hard at work dedicated to advancing the aerospace interests of the nation through in-depth analysis and a broad range of educational activities. As the nation works to confront the COVID-19 challenge, Aerospace Nation: A Conversation with the Mitchell Institute will be the most visible means of these activities. We look forward to sharing new insights with you each and every week over the coming months. Stay tuned for more information and be safe.
