Dear John,

On this day in 2010, President Obama signed the landmark Affordable Care Act into law!

Fourteen years later, more Americans have heath insurance than ever before, including the record-breaking 21.3 million Americans and 386,000 Alabamians who signed up for ACA coverage in 2024.

Gone are the days when insurance companies could charge more or deny coverage to those with pre-existing conditions. And thanks to Democrats' policies in the American Rescue Plan and Inflation Reduction Act, premiums are more affordable than ever, with families saving an average of $2,400/year.

My Democratic colleagues and I are working to build on the success of the ACA and continue to lower costs. Last year, we capped the cost of insulin at $35/month for seniors, and starting in 2025, no senior will be charged more than $2,000/year for out-of-pocket prescription drug costs.

PRESIDENT BIDEN AND DEMOCRATS CAPPED INSULIN COSTS AT $35/MONTH FOR SENIORS. DO YOU SUPPORT EXTENDING THAT TO ALL AMERICANS?

To be clear, our work is far from over. We in Alabama need a health care system that is not just affordable—but accessible. That's why I'm leading legislation to save our rural hospitals and bring more medical professionals to underserved communities.

I am also continuing to demand that our state leaders expand Medicaid so that every Alabamian gets the coverage they need.

The bottom line—Access to quality, affordable health care is a RIGHT, not a privilege for the few.

I will continue to stand strong against efforts by extremists to repeal the ACA, cut Medicare and Medicaid, and roll back our progress. Working together, I know we can build a health care system that works for every Alabama family.

As always, please be sure to check in regularly with our website and social media pages (TwitterFacebook, and Instagram) for updates. If you'd like to share your thoughts or concerns, you can email me here.

Today and every day, it is an honor to serve you in Congress. Take good care.

Sincerely,
