Friend,
The world is a very different place than it was just a few weeks ago. In New York especially, we're facing enormous challenges and changes as we deal with the coronavirus crisis.
As you may have heard, I have been diagnosed with presumed coronavirus infection. My symptoms are mild, and I'm taking care of myself by getting plenty of rest and taking over-the-counter medications. Following CDC guidelines, I will not be seeking a test or in-person medical care as of now -- instead, I'll be monitoring my symptoms and isolating myself while I continue my work on behalf of New Yorkers.
Doing the right thing amid this crisis is not about protecting yourself only, but about protecting others as well. The most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your community is stay home as much as possible. If you must go outside, please practice social distancing. If you're sick and your symptoms are manageable, please stay home. It's likely that you will get better by simply resting at home, hydrating, and taking over-the-counter medications.
I know that this is going to be difficult for many New Yorkers. As things continue to change, I wanted to reach out now with resources to help you get through this crisis. I hope that you'll find the resources that you need to prevail through these times. I'll continue to update you with the latest guidance and information.
Please take care of yourself. We are all in this together.
Best,
Nydia
