Happy Transgender Day of Visibility, Friend!
It’s incredibly important for trans and nonbinary young people to know that we see them, affirm their identities, and are availble to support them 24/7. That message must always be loud and clear, especially as we celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility with our Trevor community. As a genderfluid person, I personally know the importance of visibility and allyship. So today, I wanted to share a few ways you can join in our celebration of the transgender and nonbinary youth we serve. Together, we can make the world a safer and more inclusive place.

Today, we released The Trevor Project’s Guide to Being an Ally to Transgender and Nonbinary Youth ([link removed]) , an educational, 101-level handbook that covers the difference between sex and gender, as well as gender expression, names and pronouns, labels, best practices, and common mistakes. We encourage you to check out the guide ([link removed]) , and share it with your friends, family, coworkers, and others in your network who have an interest in becoming better allies to the trans and nonbinary folks in their lives.

We’re also featuring our trans and nonbinary staff and volunteer counselors on our blog ([link removed]) . An array of trans and nonbinary voices share their unique perspectives on the importance of visibility in their daily work. We hope their visibility will inspire transgender and nonbinary young people nationwide, and show them that they are not alone in their experiences.

We’re inspired by the trans and nonbinary young people we serve, and our ongoing commitment to them goes beyond Transgender Day of Visibility. Nearly a third of our crisis contacts are trans and nonbinary youth. It’s important that our community joins together to continue elevating trans voices and experiences. Thank you for celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility with us, and for your support of LGBTQ young people.
Thank you,
