We're demanding water justice on World Water Day!

Today is World Water Day, a day to recognize the importance of water justice in all of our lives and to take action to ensure every single person has access to safe, affordable public water.

And we’ve got some incredibly exciting organizing happening around the world with partners in communities facing water crises, water system privatization threats, and more. So I wanted to share a quick round-up of all that’s happening across the water campaign today:

A team of us just got back from Houston, TX where we celebrated our recent coalition win with our local partners. We also held a community meeting, met with local public officials to educate them on the dangers of corporate takeovers of public water systems, and did some long-term strategic planning with our allies.
Allies and partners from across the African continent, as part of the Our Water Our Right Africa Coalition, are organizing today to build power with and uplift the voices of communities most impacted by water injustice. They’ll also be meeting with decision-makers and journalists from across the continent to build a deeper understanding of what’s truly at stake when we turn control of water systems over to corporations.
We’ve been hatching some plans in deep partnership with our allies at Flint Rising to recognize the upcoming tragic milestone of 10 year since the start of Flint’s water crisis. The people of Flint are still without clean water a decade later and no one has been held accountable for their role. We are going to make sure that fact is not forgotten. We’ll be organizing in solidarity with Flint Rising and partners across the country in the coming weeks.
