For nearly a century, Social Security has provided millions of retired Americans with income to make ends meet after decades in the workforce. Currently, multi-millionaires and billionaires only pay Social Security taxes on the first $147,000 of their incomes. That means someone earning $50,000 a year pays the same amount into the system as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and other members of the ultra-rich elite.
Biden's plan would scrap this blatantly regressive cap on income subject to Social Security taxes and make sure billionaires pay their fair share.
