But there is more to “Fearless” than the name suggests. It’s not just a helpful rhyme (Pereles rhymes with Fearless): it says a lot about how Joe will govern as the next State Senator from SD-15 and change the culture in Jefferson City.
Whether it is showing up for his neighbors and delivering food to people in need during the pandemic—and continuing to serve to the present day—or running for elected office for the first time and standing up and listening to the people whose voices have been ignored by their representatives: Joe is someone who stands tall in the face of challenges; who looks out for others; and who stands up for what was right, even when it is hard.
When those elected to represent us brazenly ignore the will of the people, placing political ambition above working for their constituents, we need a "fearless" leader who will defy hard-line party politics and put the needs of his constituents first.
When the working class is systematically turned into the working poor, we need a fearless defender of families and a fighter for the middle class.
When our state ranks at or near the bottom of virtually every measure of quality of life, we must be fearless as we face the facts, roll up our sleeves, and do the hard work to make change together.
We may call Joe fearless, but the truth is that no one person could ever do this alone. Corruption, attacks on democracy, and erosion of personal freedoms—these are problems that require each one of us to do what we can to fight for a better future.
For Fearless Joe Pereles, this is about service, representing real people, and doing the right thing even—and especially—when it is hard.
