Dear John:
As frontline workers in the hospitality, food service and transportation industries, nearly 300,000 UNITE HERE members and the families they support will be among those most affected by the coronavirus. Already, large numbers of workers are facing unprecedented layoffs in the face of decreased travel, cancelled meetings and hotel bookings, university closures, and suspended sporting events. 90% of our union members are laid off.
To make matters worse, on April 1 tens of thousands of laid off workers will lose their health insurance. Hospitality workers, who are majority women, immigrants, and people of color, need support to weather this storm now.
Donate today to help hospitality workers meet basic needs during layoffs or reduced hours.
UNITE HERE is lobbying at the local and national levels for policies that will protect hospitality workers. We have been working around the clock to support workers with unemployment claims and material assistance. But this will not be enough.
Please donate today to help hospitality workers take care of their families during this crisis.
In solidarity,
UNITE HERE Hospitality Workers Union
