This is Ben Wikler, chair of the Democratic Party in Wisconsin. In an election year like this, it’s easy to get caught up in the horse race, in the polls, in the news cycles. But today (before I ask you to split a donation between the Wisconsin Democratic Party and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee), I want to take a step back and look at the big picture.
Here at the HQ in Wisconsin, we’re in the thick of the 2024 election. But for the people who will ultimately decide this election, it’s still incredibly early.
In all likelihood, swing voters haven’t tuned in yet. They’ve probably forgotten what life was like under Donald Trump, and haven’t heard much about President Biden’s accomplishments and his plan to build a brighter future for our communities.
And I don’t see that as a problem, John; I see it as an opportunity.
Most people don’t know yet that Donald Trump has promised to be a dictator on "day one," or that he’s proposed an extreme agenda to gut Social Security and Medicare to pay for tax cuts for billionaires, attack rights for LGBTQ+ Americans, and impose a new national ban on abortion.
They also don’t know that President Biden has achieved historic success in his first term – lowering costs for working families, rebuilding the middle class, and fighting to restore freedom and democracy after the disastrous Trump years.
Don’t get me wrong – this is going to be a close race, and Wisconsin will probably come down to a handful of votes per precinct. But whatever the results are, they’ll fall within the margin of effort.
We have a clear path to victory. We have a winning message of empathy, decency, freedom, and democracy. But it’s up to us, John, to step up and put in the work we’ll need to win historic victories up and down the ballot this November.

John, there is a reason I call the PCCC a political force of nature. And I’m positive that if we stand together like we did in 2020, 2022, and 2023, we can secure a brighter future for our communities, our state, and our country.
Thank you for being a part of this team.
