MARCH NEWSLETTER
Dear Friends,
During this extraordinary time, we want to acknowledge the tremendous work
of our partners in healthcare who are working diligently to secure the
health and safety of Texans across the state. We deeply appreciate the
risks and sacrifices you are making each day and will carry you all in our
hearts in the coming months.
The Texas Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy is actively monitoring impacts
to the provision of reproductive and sexual healthcare for adolescents
resulting from the coronavirus outbreak and will continue to update the
Advocacy page of our website with opportunities for stakeholders to engage.
To read more about how COVID-19 is affecting reproductive health, check out

We wish you all good health and handwashing!

Interview Spotlight
At the Texas Campaign, we interview young adults with lived experience with
regards to teen pregnancy or sex education to help incorporate youth voice
into everything we do. The impact of their first-hand experience will help
inform our future work across the state.
This month, we interviewed HK Gray, who shares her experience with getting
pregnant at 15 and how her reproductive journey started by not being able
to access birth control.

Sex Education Curriculum Standards Update
During the COVID-19 crisis, the State Board of Education is moving forward
with revisions to the state's sex education curriculum standards, with a
virtual hearing anticipated for May (date TBD). We have significant
concerns with the workgroup language that the SBOE will be reviewing at the
May meeting and are encouraging partners to provide feedback. For more
information, visit our sex education advocacy webpage [7].
Stuck at home? Check out these great resources from our friends at SIECUS
[8] with information on how to provide sex ed at home.
