Hi John xxxxxx,
Primary elections are in full swing across the nation, and we are thrilled to announce that some of our phenomenal candidates have already won their elections! Here are just a few of our latest victories:
We are thrilled to share these victories with you. As you know, they would not be possible without supporters like you. We fund almost all of our support programs from the grassroots contributions that come in from emails like this one. Help us support our candidates as they head into their general elections by donating $20.24 or more today →
✅ Molly Cook (Texas Senate District 15) progressed to the Democratic primary runoff, which will be taking place on May 28, 2024: Molly is an ER nurse, community organizer, and advocate for sustainability. She recognizes that Texas needs a bold leader who is willing to stand up for the women in her state – now more than ever, given Texas’s brutal abortion ban. If elected, she has plans to support statewide grassroots organizing within the Texas Senate to move the needle on abortion access. She is determined to reduce interpersonal violence, gun violence, and maternal mortality rates (especially in Black communities and communities of color), and more.
✅ Allie Phillips (TN House of Representatives, District 75) will officially be on the ballot against her extremist, anti-abortion opponent this November – In a state with a brutal abortion ban, Allie’s top issue is reproductive healthcare. After Allie was forced to leave the state for a medically necessary life-saving abortion, her representative, Rep. Jeff Burkhart (R), responded to her by saying that If his own daughter had been in Phillips’s position, he’d have wanted her to continue the pregnancy. He also said he didn’t realize miscarriages could occur after a first-time pregnancy… Allie is running for HIS SEAT in the TN House of Representatives, in a district that Democrats have identified as flippable.
✅ Nadia Farjood was elected to the San Diego County Democratic Party Central Committee: Nadia believes that every person should have access to the full range of reproductive health care services, including access to safe and legal abortion services, and that public funding is critical to achieving that access. In addition to her new role in her community, she will also be up against a 71-year-old Republican male incumbent for a seat on the Grossmont Healthcare District Board. Her fight continues, but we’re very excited about her victory earlier this month.
✅ April Van Dyke (Superior Court Judge for the County of Humboldt) won her election! As of last year, there were only 2 female judges on the bench in Humboldt County. April ran against an incumbent male judge who recently had a case settled with the county for harassment. She endured far too much harassment throughout her campaign and told us that her thick skin served her well. (But, of course, at Her Bold Move, we believe that women candidates shouldn’t have to deal with harassment while running for office.) She won her election and is now the first openly queer judge in Humboldt County!
We are preparing to endorse 25 NEW candidates before primary season ends. We’ve been having conversations with terrific candidates across the country – and in almost all 50 states! We are looking forward to announcing the latest additions to our roster in the coming weeks.
