Every year, Prison Fellowship® hosts Easter Hope Events in prisons across the country. These events share the hope of the Resurrection with prisoners and transform the lives of many.
The tradition of spending Easter in prison started with our founder, Chuck Colson.
In Matthew 25 Jesus says, ‘I was in prison, and you visited me.’ He calls upon His followers to minister to those who are behind bars. In other words, we will be judged in part by the way we treat those who are in prison. The fact that a man has committed a crime, and is paying the price, does not mean that he forfeits his God-given dignity.
–Chuck Colson
Easter is a special time to spread the Good News in prison and to remember the incarcerated men and women behind bars.
Prison Fellowship Hope Events® feature speakers, musicians, and other inspirational guests. They provide opportunities for incarcerated men and women to find a safe place to encounter Christ—many for the first time. These events are the perfect place to experience His love and forgiveness.
Prisoners are hungry for hope! And there is no better time than Easter to reach men and women behind bars with the hope and unconditional love found in Christ through His death and resurrection.
The Hope Events that come to prison are just what the name says: It is an event of hope. It's like a searchlight has brightened up the whole atmosphere in the prison.
