Oldham's second new Family Hub opens to give children best possible start in life
A new Family Hub has been launched to deliver a wide range of support and activities for parents, carers and children under one roof.
Stanley Road Family Hub in Chadderton is the borough's second Family Hub, following the successful launch of Beever Family Hub in St Mary's last summer.
The hub, which has seen Stanley Road Children's Centre transformed to provide the new offer, brings together invaluable resources such as midwifery clinics, breastfeeding support, parenting support, speech and language support and stay and play sessions as a one-stop shop to enable families to thrive and overcome challenges.
On Wednesday there was an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Stanley Road Family Hub, as the doors opened on the refurbished building and the community were welcomed inside.

Exciting new food hall coming to Oldham
Oldham has received a massive boost as one of the country’s leading hospitality and entertainment entrepreneurs has signed a deal to turn the Old Town Hall’s Egyptian Room into a new food hall.
Six casual dining and street food style food stalls, plus a bar and seating for some 150 people will create one of the most spectacular new food halls anywhere.
Set to open in late summer this year, it’s a major landmark in the transformation of the historic Oldham Old Town Hall – and a significant investment to bring this exciting and fast-growing leisure and eating concept to local people.
Oldham Food Hall Ltd, part of The Northern Lights Group (NLG), which runs some of the north west’s most exciting and renowned restaurants and entertainment venues, has signed a long-term lease for the Egyptian Room. They will bring unique expertise and flair to create an exciting new food and drink attraction for local people and visitors to the borough.
Oldham Council Leader Cllr Arooj Shah said: “We can’t wait for Egyptian Room to open with one of the most exciting new eating and leisure offers anywhere in the region!"

Oldham Council provides Easter treats to children in temporary accommodation
Children living in temporary accommodation will get a free Easter egg this year, thanks to an initiative from Oldham Council and their partner Muse.
The move follows the announcement earlier this year by the Council that families living in temporary accommodation would get up to 10 free activities to try out at Oldham Community Leisure.
Councillor Arooj Shah, Leader of Oldham Council, said: “We know the cost of living is hitting everyone hard in their pockets, especially for families living in temporary accommodation.
“It’s why we’ve worked with one of our partners to give a little Easter cheer to around 650 children who haven’t got a permanent roof over their heads.
“We often talk about Oldham being one family and this Easter gift shows we mean it. I’d like give huge thanks to Muse for supporting our campaign to help the less fortunate children in the borough.”

Gallery Oldham: The Song by Bani Abidi
A new exhibition showcasing the talents of Bani Abidi - a Pakistani artist who works with video, photography and drawing – opens on Saturday at Gallery Oldham.
Her film The Song draws on her interest in sound and migration, and what it means to be acoustically displaced.
