John,
When the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed 14 years ago, it changed the game for healthcare – protecting people with pre-existing conditions, mandating preventative medical care, and making sure people can access care when they need it.
The ACA changed the lives of caregivers like Jeffery Kearney, as his mother, who he cares for, was able to receive Medicaid coverage through the ACA. Before the ACA, Jeffery’s family was forced to visit the emergency room for care all too often without consistent access to care. Jeffery says the ACA has been a “literal lifesaver.”
But the ACA is under attack by politicians who hope to slash it, as well as Medicaid and other federal care programs. We’ve seen these threats before and have successfully fought back – by taking action now, you can help us make sure the ACA remains law.
According to Jeffery, “Our experience receiving care through the ACA has overall been so much less hectic. The ability for my mom to plan and schedule medical visits and treatments in advance has been absolutely critical to establish a comfortable status quo not marred by chaos.”
We all depend on care. The majority of people in the U.S. oppose cuts to funding for healthcare, including Medicaid and the ACA – and a majority actually support increasing funding. It’s time our elected leaders respond to our priorities and expand our access to care!
Together, we can send a loud message to our elected leaders: Protect the Affordable Care Act and protect our care! Take action now.
Millions of family caregivers, disabled and aging care recipients, and care workers rely on the ACA for affordable health insurance. Jeffery says, “I wish that folks understood how crucial a lifeline these programs are to fellow Americans. My hope is that we eventually reach a place where we all are comfortably cared for in this country. We the people deserve that.”
He’s right. We all deserve a care system that better serves us. We won’t stop fighting until we get it. Thank you for joining the fight.
With care,
