Legislative Update
ExCEL Award
We had three winners of the Minnesota State High School League ExCEL Award this week. Mason Tschida and Molly Petrowitz from Little Falls and Hannah Jones from Aitkin were recognized at the University of Minnesota during the Class AA girls basketball state championship. Recipients are selected from across the state based on their involvement in sports and extracurriculars, leadership in their school community, and their academic achievement. Congratulations to all of our outstanding students!
Public safety was top of mind this week as our caucus rolled out a package of bills to support our law enforcement and first responders. These are the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep us all safe. Democrats in Saint Paul continue to block our efforts to fund our police force and take care of the dedicated officers who serve our communities. Our leads in the public safety arena rolled out a collection of seven bills and you can watch the complete press conference here: Facebook Watch [ [link removed] ]
This last week, I asked the Governor to declare an emergency for the Mille Lacs Lake area. The lack of ice and new catch and release regulations continue to economically strain the communities and resorts surrounding the Mille Lacs Lake. The Governor cannot continue to ignore this economic hardship. So far no response.

There continues to be a steady stream of visitors sharing concerns. I met with educators, long-term care providers, and a mom who is advocating for her child with disabilities. I am always impressed with the passion and advocacy that people bring to St. Paul. I am grateful to help and honored to represent the people of 10A.
Thank you all!
I am also actively working on funding for the MN Fishing Museum located in Little Falls, MN and the Long Lake Conservancy Center in Aitkin County. These are valuable assets for our area and bring people and economic activity.
Looking ahead to next week I have two bills that will be in front of the Capitol investment committee. These are important needs for our community that address critical water and wastewater infrastructure in Flensburg as well as upgrades for the Morrison County Airport. I look forward to making the case to the committee why these are critical to our communities and should be a priority this session.
This evening Holy Cross in Onamia [ [link removed] ] has its Lenten Fish fry. This is an excellent opportunity to share a delicious meal with our neighbors and get to know the members of our community. I look forward to sharing great company this season with all of you across the district.
