Hi John,

How can we call dogs our best friends and at the same time, confine them by the thousands inside factory farms and subject them to cruel mutilation without pain relief? Dog experimentation is out of line with the public's values.

*In Dane County, Wisconsin, a movement of ordinary people is working to shut down Ridglan Farms,* *one of the last remaining large breeders of beagles for experimentation in the United States.* Following the abrupt dismissal of a historic case involving the rescue of beagles from Ridglan Farms, a ctivists have been protesting every day this week ( [link removed] ) to demand justice for the thousands of dogs still confined inside Ridglan.

On Monday, activists protested at the District Attorney's office, calling for the prosecution of Ridglan Farms for their egregious mistreatment of animals, as documented by DxE investigators ( [link removed] ) , the USDA, and the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection.

On Tuesday, activists held a vigil at Ridglan Farms and drew support from passersby including a neighbor who came and joined the protest.

On Wednesday, animal advocates filed a petition ( [link removed] ) with the Dane County Court to assign a special prosecutor to initiate a prosecution against Ridglan Farms, given the failure of the DA's office against this cruel institution.

There were also protests this week at the Wisconsin State Capitol, Labcorp Headquarters, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP). Protestors urged the to university to sever ties with Ridglan Farms and halt their experimentation on dogs, and asked DATCP to revoke Ridglan's license. Even though it's snowing currently, we've got two more protests today, and then this weekend, too.

We've gotten incredibly positive press coverage from local TV and national outlets ( [link removed] ). As Bill Lueders wrote yesterday in The xxxxxx , “The day will come when dogs are no longer used in often invasive, painful, and fatal research, robbing them of ordinary doggie lives. For the dogs, that day cannot come soon enough."

Let's make that day come as soon as possible! *Please consider joining us in our ongoing fight against animal exploitation by* *becoming a monthly donor today* ( [link removed] ) *.* Through this Monday, all new monthly donations are being matched with $100 from a generous supporter. And you can get your very own "Right to Rescue" mug if you sign up for $25/month or more ( [link removed] ).
