- As a cannibalistic gang war rages through Haiti, President Joe Biden last week dispatched a Marine Corps special unit to protect the evacuation of nonemergency personnel as well as fellow Marines from the U.S. Embassy in the nation’s capital, Port-au-Prince.
- With that evacuation of the embassy in Haiti, the Biden administration has presided over more evacuations of U.S. embassies—a total of 11—than any other presidential administration in U.S. history.
- Since Biden took office in January 2021, his State Department has partially or fully evacuated 11 U.S. embassies via what are known as authorized or ordered departure directives.
- U.S. embassies elsewhere were evacuated only once during the Biden administration. But the State Department ordered the partial “authorized departure” or “ordered departure” evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince four times: in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
- The Biden administration has projected weakness and indecision from the beginning to both allies and enemies. From the botched Afghanistan pullout, which cost unnecessary American lives and left equipment and people in the lurch, to the current attempt to balance domestic political constituencies with heretofore bipartisan historical support of Israel, the pattern is one of hedging and hoping.

- Community Education Council District 2, serving the biggest school district in Manhattan, has just passed a vote of 8-3 to require the city’s Department of Education to allow a public review of its policy allowing transgender girls to play female sports.
- The goal of the resolution is transparency and parental involvement—both of which are essential to education.
- But even though the measure was largely only symbolic, as trans athletes can play on whatever team they like per current policy in New York City public schools, the measure was still slammed as a “transphobic” one.
- That kind of blowback for a resolution requiring transparency and parental involvement speaks volumes about the vitriol from a small, vocal, and well-funded minority. The transgender mob doesn’t even want conversations being had on HOW school districts conclude that biological men can play on sports teams for women. They want these parents to look the other way and never even ask “why.”
- The courage of the Council is commendable in the face of so much opposition. We need more leaders—at all levels—to exhibit the same if women’s athletics continue to exist.

- Over the past decade, $2 trillion–$3 trillion or more of U.S. investment has flowed into China with virtually no transparency and oversight.
- To meet national security threats, notifications and prohibitions should be required for investments involving dual-use technology with military applications.
- Outbound investment reform must therefore begin with a notification requirement for investments in China that present national security risks.
- Outbound investment in China should be prohibited in sectors that produce dual-use technology with military applications. Covered sectors should include semiconductors, high-performance computing, data storage, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, robotics, remote sensing, advanced communications, advanced materials, and space technology.
- Yet some politicians continue to rely on myths to argue that American investment in China’s military–industrial complex should remain unrestricted and opaque.
