Dear friends,
We're excited to announce our first endorsements of the 2024 election cycle!

At the state level, we're thrilled to endorse State Senators Iwen Chu, Julia Salazar, Andrew Gounardes and Kristen Gonzalez, as well as Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon.
Each of these elected officials has fought on behalf of young people for a better Brooklyn, and we're excited to back them in their re-election campaigns.
We're also proud to announce our endorsement of Joe Biden for President of the United States.

Our membership’s vote to endorse Joe Biden for President comes as Brooklyn and our country stand at a critical juncture. The potential threats posed by a second Trump presidency—including a national abortion ban, mass deportations of immigrants, climate destruction and the collapse of democracy itself—represent an existential risk to young people and require an urgent, all-hands on-deck response.
President Biden's first term has been marked by several major accomplishments that create a brighter future for young people, including strengthened worker protections and union support; historic climate investments; critical judicial appointments; and significant reductions in lifesaving drug costs.
We share the strong emotions many young people feel regarding the ongoing crisis in Gaza, where 30,000 Palestinians have been killed, and where an immediate, permanent ceasefire and the release of all hostages is vital to end the loss of innocent lives. A second Biden term creates the conditions where progressives can advocate for and influence policies that prioritize human rights for all; a Trump administration will make that work impossible, and be unapologetically hostile to vulnerable communities at home and abroad, a reality we cannot accept.
In joining the Young Democrats of America in endorsing Biden, we join a coalition that recognizes the vital necessity of fighting fascism and authoritarianism. Re-electing President Biden and defeating Trump is paramount to continuing our work to safeguard democracy and fundamental rights for all young people.

Help us get Iwen on the ballot!
|
|
We're jumping right into the action and supporting our endorsed candidates as they work to get on the ballot.
Join us this Saturday at 2pm in Sunset Park to help re-elect State Senator Iwen Chu! As the first and only Asian woman in the State Senate, Iwen is uniquely positioned to serve communities in Southern Brooklyn.
We'll collect signatures so we can make sure she gets on the ballot and wins this election!
