We wanted to take a moment to highlight an important victory in our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of all Delawareans.
Last week, Democrats in the General Assembly successfully passed a crucial piece of legislation requiring a permit to purchase a handgun. This landmark law is a significant step forward in our commitment to reducing gun violence in the First State. We believe that access to firearms should be responsibly regulated, and this new requirement will help keep our communities safer.
But this achievement is just one piece of the puzzle. Over the years, Democrats in Delaware have been hard at work turning our gun safety platform into policy. We've banned assault weapons, bump stocks, and high-capacity magazines. We've implemented red flag laws and cracked down on straw purchases. Each of these actions has been a vital step forward in our fight to protect our loved ones from senseless gun violence.
