John,

Our commitment to making Minnesota the best state in the nation for children means increasing access to books, not censoring them.

Today, Lt. Gov. Flanagan and I visited a local school to support a bill DFL leaders in the legislature introduced to prevent book bans in public and school libraries based on ideology.

We know where Republicans stand on this issue. In the first half of the 2022-23 school year, there were over 1,400 instances of attempted GOP book bans across the country.

John, let me be clear: As long as I’m governor, we will never let a book ban happen in Minnesota. Censorship has no place in our schools and libraries, and it certainly has no place in our democracy.

I’m ready to sign this bill into law, but we need your help to keep the pressure on. Add your name to send the unmistakable message that Minnesotans of all backgrounds stand against Republican book bans.

Taking books away from kids and schools does not protect our children, but it does erase many of the stories and voices that do.

This legislation will ensure books remain accessible to teach and all children continue to have the opportunity to read freely. Thank you for making your voice heard.

I’m grateful,

Tim Walz

Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan have overcome unprecedented challenges to provide historic investments in education, create new, good-paying jobs, and increase access to health care. And with your help, they can defeat their extremist Republican opponents and continue to move our state forward, as one Minnesota. Can you pitch in $5 now to help them stop extremism and keep Minnesota in DFL hands?
