Through this teach-in, we will uplift youth voices and help them share how climate change has impacted their communities.

Hi John, it’s Kidus,

Earth Day is a month away tomorrow. Every year, politicians and corporations use Earth Day as an excuse to pat themselves on the back: "Yes, we're approving more oil wells, but look at this nice park clean-up!" On April 22nd, thousands of Sunrisers across multiple cities will hold Climate Emergency Teach-Ins, and together, we will call on President Biden to declare a Climate Emergency.

During the teach-in, we will send a clear message to politicians in every corner of the country: young people are watching. If you don't support a climate emergency and a Green New Deal, we will make it known that you stand with oil and gas lobbyists, not our generation.

If we confront Members of Congress and get them to call on Biden to act, Biden will have no choice but to make concessions. The pressure to deliver will be too great to ignore.

That’s why we’re planning these teach-ins: to send a loud and clear message that young people demand urgent action to end the climate crisis and protect our future.

I’ve got a list of things that our team needs, and I really want to say yes so we can support young people taking action.

We need fabric and paint to make banners and signs. We need to pay to print flyers advertising the events. We need clipboards to ensure our volunteers can canvass their neighborhoods on Earth Day.

So, can you help sponsor a teach-in? Support from folks like you makes these actions possible.
