Daily Docket — Thursday, March 21

Here are some recent updates.

  • South Carolina asked the U.S. Supreme Court to allow the state to use its congressional map for elections this year given the court’s delay on a final ruling on the districts. Lower judges found that the map is racially gerrymandered.

  • Kari Lake also asked the U.S. Supreme Court to expedite consideration of her petition seeking to ban the use of electronic voting machines in Arizona so a decision can be made as soon as possible before the 2024 election.

    • Backed by Mike Lindell, Kari Lake and Mark Finchem are bringing election conspiracies to the Supreme Court. Meet the people involved in this case that lower courts have called "frivolous."

  • Diversity is crucial for the integrity of our democracy. We need diverse representation where decisions are made to equalize opportunities denied to Black and other marginalized communities for far too long, writes NAACP Legal Defense Fund President Janai Nelson in a new op-ed for Democracy Docket.
